This trip was a little rushed and when we got there we were still in the midst of planning, but praise God that everything still went along nicely. The first 3 days were used for traveling, planning and preparing our hearts. Peng siang our team leader was constantly reminding us that we were not there on a holiday trip but there to serve God.
And the rest of the 10 days was used to teach the children English, share the Gospel to them through our testimonies and a skit showing what Jesus did on the cross for us.
The difficulties I faced were when we had to split up, initially we had 12 people but we split into groups of 6 going to 2 different schools. It was then where we had to teach alone, it was really hard at first because of the language barrier and some of the kid’s short attention span, but it all worked out eventually J
On the last 2 days we the team came back together and went to teach a muslim school, at there we weren’t allowed to share the gospel. When I heard that I thought than why are we even going there in the first place if we can’t share with them, but at the end of the day we were allowed to sing them a song about Jesus who is a friend that we can count on and also at the end of the day they acknowledged us as Christians and hopefully from there on God’s work can carry out in them.
Some of the difficulties I faced also were when Timothy Toh and I were doing the skit, some of the kids were just laughing away, and that was a little discouraging at first but maybe it’s just not their time. When we evaluated on that we realized that they were reacting the same way the “spectators” were acting when Jesus was being crucified, I was once like that so I am not to judge. So let’s pray for them, that they have went home and thought about it and pray that their hearts might be open to accept Him.
In this trip I have learnt a lot about myself and how I react to things, like when I try doing things my way and it doesn’t work out I will just give up. E.g. I had a quarrel with one of the leaders and I tried to work it out my way but it didn’t work, my way was to talk normally with the person and hope that the issue would just go away. But by God’s grace He gave me the easy way out when Peng Siang wanted to address the issue. The “worst” thing was a few nights before that I was sharing on humility and subjecting to elders
1 Peter 5:5, so it was like God telling it straight to my face, that I was not practicing what I shared about. So it was really a humbling experience.
I have really enjoyed this trip as we had more opportunities to share the gospel and of course the food too! : )

Pray that the next Mission Trip will be even better ! :P
